Who we are

We are a charity that knows the sex industry - we haven’t seen it all, but we’ve seen a lot. We provide confidential services and our trained support workers can meet you on a one-to-one basis. Find out more about us and the history of our charity here.

A brief history of SWISH

SWISH stands for Sex Workers Into Sexual Health, it began life as Streetwise Youth in 1984 to offer support and advice to male escorts. We originally ran our services from Eardley Crescent in Earl’s Court, offering a safe place for male escorts to talk about their work and benefit from a twice weekly drop-in. Later we recognised a lack of support for increasing numbers of migrant transgender workers coming to London. Since becoming part of Terrence Higgins Trust in 2007, we work with all genders over nine different boroughs. Our service users work in all aspects of the adult industry and we are inclusive of people who do not identify as sex workers, but are exchanging sex or at risk of sexual exploitation.
